Overview

Overview

Etiaba is a finance and business management platform for managing finances and business processes. It mainly targets small to medium-scale businesses, helping them centralise their processes and manage their finances.

To achieve our goals, I collaborated with engineers, product managers, product designers, business analysts, and other key stakeholders. We provided several features that enable businesses to easily access solutions that meet their needs, all in one app. This led to an over 80% satisfaction rate during the soft launch and is projected to save businesses over 50% of the time invested in their current processes.

Before the idea of etiaba was birthed, the business had a customer base in which they managed their finances. Different applications were used to manage them and meet the needs of these businesses. These applications were foreign and payments were made in dollars. This posed 2 main challenges;


They need a single application that meets all their customers' needs


They need a more affordable solution with a local payment option.

I went into a research phase alongside other team members to understand our challenges and get data that can aid our solution. We asked a series of critical questions that shaped our approach:


  • How do businesses currently record and reconcile transactions?


  • What are the common challenges with transaction tracking?


  • Are there centralised data that inform business decisions?

  • How do businesses track their operations, Invoices, Receipts, inventory, etc?


While this was key for us, we conducted competitor audits checking if related solutions exist in our region. We had discussions with key stakeholders to understand the problems they face with customers. Lastly, we engaged customers to understand their needs.

Based on our discovery, we brainstormed different solutions, came up with different strategies and had several stakeholder meetings before we went ahead with the designs.

While we had different solutions, we had to ensure we had the right one that satisfied customers' needs. So we had key stakeholders review and got customer feedback at different stages of the design, up to the final stage.

Conclusion

Etiaba was completed for the first release. Thou the app is in soft launch, there has been a good level of satisfaction and adoption by customers for their business processes. The app effectively communicated value to business owners, and good feedback was given about the design and ease of use. The soft release enabled us to identify key areas for improvement, ensuring a seamless experience for future users. Though
